RICS Level 2 Survey (HomeBuyer Survey)
This is a visual inspection of the property to evaluate the overall condition of the building and highlight defects such as dampness or structural movement. This type of survey is usually recommended for properties which were built post-1900 and appear to be in a reasonable condition as far as you can see. You can choose to upgrade this to a RICS Level 2 Survey and Valuation if you require a RICS qualified valuation to verify whether you are paying a reasonable price compared with the current market. RICS Level 3 Survey (Building Survey)
The Level 3 Survey is the most detailed level of RICS Home Surveys available. This level of survey is usually recommended for properties which have been significantly altered/extended, are in a poor condition as far as you can see or where built before 1900.
